CANTON, Ohio — People craving big-city energy in downtown Canton will have another option to suit their tastes, starting next week!
Mélange is the latest new restaurant to come on the scene, promising classic fare alongside updated takes on old favorites.
"Mélange is a French term which means 'to mix,'" managing partner Nick Pamboukis told me while sharing his excitement over the continuing revitalization of the downtown area. "We chose this because not only is the food a mix of classics like filet mignonette and dishes with a modern twist like our Caribbean-style whole Maine lobsters, but the restaurant itself is a mix offering fine dining in the front and ultra lounge called Encore in the back where guests can dance the night away or watch one of our live music performers.
"Canton is an amazing city that is welcoming new business and focused on growth. We felt it was a perfect place for a high-end destination restaurant to attract folks from surrounding areas like Cleveland, Akron, and beyond, and the officials from the city of Canton agreed."
And why wouldn't they? The visual appeal of Mélange is certainly there! Located at 221 Market Avenue North (filling the space where Napoli's Italian Eatery used to be), the décor is as vibrant as the menu, with each piece selected with a purpose.
"We wanted you to feel like you walked into a big-city restaurant that could be in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, or Miami," Nick explained. "From the same glass flowers found in the Bellagio hotel lobby to the large floral and tropical prints that remind you of Miami, the space brings you to a different place while dining with us."
Mélange prides itself on being a great place for an intimate dinner while also serving as also an option for special occasions when people need to accommodate a large group.
"The few private events we've had so far for the Professional Football Hall of Fame have been great," Nick said, "and they've already reached out to us to be a main source for all of their high-end athletes and guests when they are in town."
