CLEVELAND — In an exclusive First Look for 3News, the Cleveland Botanical Garden is unveiling its "biggest show ever" with the debut of "FROST: An Ice-Capped Garden Experience."
FROST is a captivating and immersive winter exhibit that opens on Saturday, Nov. 18, and runs through Sunday, Dec. 31.
This exhibit that took two years to bring to life creates an ethereal wonderland that transforms both indoor and outdoor gardens into a winter fantasy, featuring towering ice arches, dazzling light installations, a tunnel of flowers, larger-than-life animals, 500-plus poinsettias, seasonal soundscapes, and much more. It provides visitors with a completely immersive experience for the holiday season.
FROST invites visitors to explore a dozen different themes, including Jingle Jungle, Solstice Stroll, and Lake Effect Lodge. Icicle Alleys connect these themes to create a cohesive wonderland experience.
In addition to its themed areas, guests who visit FROST can also enjoy the work of artist Jann Dieringer in the exhibit "Ohio's Winter Embrace: A Frozen Encaustic Photography Exhibition." Encaustic photography is a unique process that adds multiple layers of translucent molten beeswax and natural tree resin fused with a blow torch or heat gun into each photograph, along with paint, pan pastels, pigments, and ink. Some areas are smooth and translucent, and some textured for desired effects. Encaustic photography is a fascinating technique that is highly creative and pushes the boundaries of the images into a painterly realm.
"Krampus Night" will also take place during FROST on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. Guests can keep an eye out for Krampus as he lurks about searching for deviant attendees throughout the night while enjoying various vendors selling Krampus swag, making their own mulling spices, sipping on a fun cocktail from our outdoor bar, and listening to the sweet sounds of Erin Nicole Neal and the Chill Factors as Krampus sneaks around the garden. A portion of the proceeds from this event go to Miracle League of Lake County, City of Eastlake.
