TREMONT CITY, Ohio — New things are brewing in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood.
Roasted, a coffee shop and community-based workspace, celebrated its grand opening on Friday, March 25. The shop offers everything from tea and smoothies to snacks and coffee, but it's not your average cup of joe.
Roasted's owner Sofia Syed sources her coffee all the way from Honduras. She was inspired to open Roasted after spending time at a coffee farm in Copan Ruinas as part of a trip hosted by Alejandra Flores of Unateza Coffee.
While in Honduras, Sofia was introduced to Katia Duke, a fourth generation specialty farmer in the area. She worked closely with Katia, learning about the life cycle and process of coffee first-hand.
With a deeper understanding and appreciation for the coffee craft, Syed now supports Katia by using her blends right here in Northeast Ohio.
In addition to unique coffee offerings, Syed's art background is reflected in the space. Local art is on full display and the shop even offers D-I-Y coffee mug kits.
"I've always wanted a place that merged coffee and art, and with that, an all encompassing community space was born," Syed said. "Roasted is a place where not only can you enjoy specialty coffee, healthy smoothies, and teas, you can also unleash your creative side with D-I-Y projects that you do in-house or take home with you. It also features books, board games, events, workshops and, comedy nights."
