BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Community health and wellness just got easier with the addition of a brand new fitness park located in Beachwood's City Park East.
The new fitness park features state-of-the-art outdoor equipment. It's also a 'smart park' featuring a QR code to scan, supported by a mobile app, National Fitness Campaign, that serves as a workout guide and fitness tracker.
Beachwood Community Services Director Derek Schroeder says the best part about the new space is that it was created for all ages and fitness levels, making exercise accessible to the entire community in an open-air atmosphere.
"Outdoors is the perfect place to work out," Schroeder said. "You can get in a cross-fit style workout, easy or hard, work out all your muscle groups and get great exercise."
The court offers different exercise zones for a full-body workout and circuit-style training.
Locals Andrea and Cliff Cook, that live in the Beachwood area visit City Park East often and say they enjoy coming to the park with their whole family, walking the trail and now, working out. "We started using it and feeling it, and we've been using all the machines multiple times," Cook said.
Beachwood City Mayor Justin Berns looks forward to bringing more visitors to the park, "We are going to offer fitness courses with certified instructors through the city in the near future that anyone will be able to sign up for. It's certainly in the works."
Beachwood is one of approximately 250 cities nationwide with a unique community asset. The City Park East is free and open to the public.
