KIRTLAND, Ohio — In Kirtland, Ohio, the sights and sounds of summer at Holden Arboretum paint a picture-perfect canvas of Northeast Ohio's beauty in every season, especially summer.
As a living museum, it's one of the nation's largest arboretum and botanical gardens, and it's right in the Northeast Ohio region's backyard.
"It's huge. In the last couple of weeks, we've had some of these really beautiful flowers, showy hydrangeas, purple cone flowers, butterflies everywhere and animals in a lot of areas. People always comment on the lush look of the area," said Holden Arboretum's Director of Guest Experiences Beth Kelly. "We're a really unique gem because we have these trappings of a park."
Thousands of tree, garden and plant collections make up the incredible landscape that sweeps across more than 240 acres.
"For those who really love to walk on trails, we've got really lush gardens. You'll see a lot of pollinators here and hear frogs in the pond," said Kelly.
And the best part - Holden Arboretum is more than a walk through its trails. It is such a fun spot with something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
The fun includes the blooming Butterfly Garden, Buckeye Bud's Big Adventure Woods and Zipline, the Maze of Mission Botanica and relaxing views by Corning Lake.
Hundreds of families visited Holden Arboretum this summer.
The Holden Arboretum is the perfect place for you to visit on your next summer adventure. For anyone wanting to take a peaceful walk through the trails with a furry friend on a leash or a fun day out - there's so much in store for the whole family.
