CLEVELAND — They are the unsung heroes of Playhouse Square. The iconic, RedCoats!
For decades the volunteer ushers have dedicated their work to making sure all shows run smoothly for the guests who attend.
"The RedCoats are passionate about what we do here and about making the guest's experience exceptional," said Meg Colwell, Senior Volunteer Manager at Playhouse Square. "They are really critical and important part of the experience here."
And now, you have the opportunity to suit up and volunteer as a Playhouse RedCoat! While they have around 1,600 volunteers right now, they are looking to add an additional 500 RedCoats to their roster.
"We have shows 6 days a week and sometimes on Mondays. We need to staff that," says Colwell.
According to Playhouse Square, the program is open to a wide range of ages. RedCoat volunteers can start as early as high school or college. Individuals with full-time jobs or who are in retirement also are able to volunteer.
They are able to work with your schedule and offer flexibility as well. Volunteers are assigned to work a certain day/evening with an average of 4-5 hours per assignment. Duties include greeters, ticket scanners, ushers, wheelchair escorts and general event-related positions.
