‘Fixer Upper’ has bittersweet finale

The episode moved many to tears.

The series finale of Fixer Upper on HGTV was "bittersweet" for co-host Joanna Gaines.

After five seasons of her home renovation show with husband Chip, the pregnant Joanna took time to blog about the end of this phase of life and "the beginning of a new one." After all, Baby No. 5 is on the way!

I can't believe tonight marks our very last episode of Fixer Upper. This picture is of us filming our pilot in 2012 and then our last scene of fixer in 2017. What a journey this has been! Check out my blog to read an update from us and to see what's on the horizon for our family and Magnolia as we move forward. The end is bittersweet, but we are excited for what's to come. Tune in tonight for the series finale on HGTV @ 9/8c! #fixerupper (link in profile)

"Pregnancy has been so fun, in fact my two favorite things to do are take naps and eat! Since it’s been over eight years since I was pregnant with Emmie Kay, I joke with my friends that it feels like it’s my first time being pregnant," Joanna wrote. "Since I had our first four babies so close to one another, none of them actually remember me being pregnant. They love my growing belly (and boy is it growing), and they cannot wait to meet him. I truly believe this baby is a gift from God for our family in this season."

The Texan went on to mention a few other new things ahead, including a kitten, a puppy, a cookbook and a design book, and thanked longtime fans of the show.

"Today is really bittersweet for us," Joanna says. "Fixer Upper is the thing that introduced our family to yours, and every Tuesday night for the past five years, we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. We’ve said it many times, but it’s worth saying again — thank you to everyone who has walked beside us on this journey."

The episode, which featured musician Mike Herrera (of MXPX fame) hoping to move his family from Washington state to Waco, Texas, moved many viewers to tears.
