WESTFIELD, Ind. — Greetings from Westfield, Indiana, the training camp home of the Indianapolis Colts. Let me just say, there are 400 luscious acres of athletic complex here. It is amazing!
On the field, the Browns came and had an excellent day of practice with the Colts on Wednesday in the first of two dual team workouts. The two teams will practice together for a few hours again on Thursday, then the Browns will have a walk-through on Friday before facing the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in preseason game number two on Saturday.
The thing that struck me on Wednesday was how much the Browns first-team offense is in sync. That's even though Odell Beckham Junior and Jarvis Landry are limited out of precautionary reasoning. Baker Mayfield is red-hot throwing the football right now and with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt running, the offense is hard to stop. And the Indianapolis Colts have a very good defense.
The Browns are also getting another tight end in on the action as Demetrius Harris is on the field. He missed last week's preseason game, but I would expect to see him in action on Saturday. Harris, who came over from the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason, is another one of those tight ends who played college basketball. He gives Baker Mayfield a big, tall target to throw to.
The best news from Wednesday? Everyone got through the hard-hitting practice healthy with no nagging injuries.
