Ohio selects design for new 'I voted' sticker

We have a winner!

Ohio's "I voted" sticker officially has a new look.

On Tuesday, Ohio Secretary of State, Frank LaRose announced the winner of the sticker's design contest.

Wrangling in more than 15,000 votes, 12th grader Emily Legg of Pickaway County, just south of Columbus, is the creative behind the winning design.

The contest attracted more than 2,000 entities from students in grades 6th through 12th. Judges were able to narrow the competition down to three finalists before selecting the winner.

One of those finalists was Northeast Ohio native, Ian McDaniel. McDaniel sat down with Jim Donovan last week and explained his design.

While Ian didn't win, it's important to recognize the greater impact the contest served.

"This isn't just about a sticker. This is about something much bigger than that. This is about getting young Ohioans excited about voting -- this impactful, powerful act," said Secretary LaRose.

Once stock of the current design runs out in each county, the new design will replace them.
