CLEVELAND — This Thursday night, the InterContinental Cleveland hotel is hosting its popular "Party with a Purpose" to support Cleveland children through designated local charitable organizations.
"What began as a single hotel’s way to give back to children in the local community during the holiday season has become a significant event at IHG hotels across the country," spokesperson Brian Smith told 3News.
"The Cleveland hotels will join forces with over 42 IHG hotels and 2,000 staff and clients preparing 5,000+ toys for donation in local communities. Furthermore, based on the local commitment, IHG will make additional donations to the No Kid Hungry foundation."
The party happening in the InterContinental Cleveland's Founders Ballroom brings together more than 200 volunteers, who will enjoy live entertainment, festive hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails during the event, which is free to attend aside from a toy donation.
Once inside, volunteers will assemble toys, fill baskets and stockings, and wrap gifts. These gifts will then be donated to area organizations, including Laura’s Home (The City Mission), Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, Providence House, IAFF Firefighters Local 93 and Project Noelle.
Pre-registered volunteers coming to the hotel located at 9801 Carnegie Avenue are asked to bring an unwrapped children’s toy like a stuffed animal, board game or doll, for example. For each toy donated, volunteers will be entered into drawings held throughout the evening with chances to win 75,000 IHG Rewards Points, hotel suites, lunches, dinners and more.
For those who didn't pre-register to volunteer at today's event, the hotel will graciously accept additional gifts to be distributed to the local charities. They request gifts be new and in original packaging. Gifts can be delivered by Monday, December 19. Donors are asked to please mention "Party With a Purpose" when dropping items off to the front desk at the InterContinental Cleveland.
