Kanye West holds an unconventional presidential campaign event in South Carolina, Nicki Minaj and her husband are expecting their first child, and Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are giving the world new music together. These are the top headlines around Hollywood.
In a shocking turn of events, Kanye West is telling the world that he is not out of the 2020 presidential race, as many had previously thought.
West held a campaign rally on Sunday night in Charleston and turned heads, with "2020" shaved into his hair.
The rapper also made controversial comments about famed United States abolitionist and prominent Underground Railroad leader, Harriet Tubman.
"Well, Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had them go work for other White people" West said.
This is not the first time West has made contended remarks on slavery in the United States, in 2018 the "Famous" singer said that he believed Black Americans being enslaved was "a choice" that they made for themselves.
West traded in his signature "Yeezy" brand clothes for what looked like a bulletproof vest and suggested that the best way to end abortion in the U.S. could be to give parents $1 million.
Monday morning, South Carolina officials reported that although West had held a rally not 24 hours earlier, the rapper did not meet the official deadline to make it on the ballot in SC.
There are still 297 electoral college votes up for grabs in states where West could get on the ballot, but in regards to South Carolina, it looks like they won't be accepting a "Late Registration."
Another rap icon is also making headlines today.
Singer and rapper Nicki Minaj announced Monday morning on Instagram that she is expecting her first child with husband and fellow rapper Kenneth "Zoo" Petty.
Minaj shared the news by posting several baby bump pics, aptly captioning the photos "#PREGGERS."
With another photo, she wrote:
"Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes."
Minaj first sparked pregnancy rumors on Twitter in May, but now she is sharing the joy without any secrecy.
And one of the cutest Hollywood couples around is doing their part to turn around the bizarre year that is 2020.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton announced on Monday morning on "Today" that they are releasing a brand-new, quarantine-inspired song together at the end of the week.
The couple, who have been together since 2015, will release "Happy Anywhere" on Friday and will premiere it with a live performance on "Today."
