Corporal Hudson stands at East 89th Street and Carnegie Avenue each morning to welcome Cleveland Clinic caregivers to work with his effervescent personality. You might see some funky dance moves from him in the crosswalk, while getting a fist-bump as you move to the other side of the street. It's all his way of helping those heroes of health care feel a little better as they start their day, or head home from the night shift.

On Friday, Hudson had some help in his efforts.

As the Cleveland Cavaliers prepare to open the 2023 NBA Playoffs on Saturday night against the New York Knicks, in-game announcer Ahmaad Crump and mascot Moondog joined Corporal Hudson on East 89th Street for a special playoff party.

The Cavs enter their first-round series vs. the Knicks after compiling a 51-31 regular-season record -- the fourth-best in the Eastern Conference. In doing so, Cleveland made the playoffs for the first time since LeBron James' free agency departure in 2018 -- and for the first time without James on its roster since the 1997-98 campaign.

Game 1 of their series with the Knicks tips off at 6 p.m. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
