CLEVELAND — Jimmy Fallon has done it again.
The Tonight Show host featured the city of Cleveland as a punchline in one of his monologue jokes during Thursday night’s episode.
It was all connected to a story surrounding Elon Musk and the billionaire’s net worth.
“Here’s some really sad news,” Fallon said on the show. “I read that in the past few days Elon Musk’s net worth dropped below $200 billion. That’s right, Elon Musk is no longer worth over $200 billion. Now when he flies to space, he has to connect in Cleveland. Sad.”
The joke continued…
“Elon was shocked he lost billions and then went back to work in his latest project: Teaching Teslas how to Mamba.”

Back in 2020, Fallon took a joking a jab at Cleveland in connection with the episode of The Bachelor that was filmed in Northeast Ohio.
“The girls were pretty surprised when Chris Harrison told them they were going on a group date to Cleveland,” Fallon said. “At first they were like, ‘This isn’t a romantic date, this is a layover.’”
That same night, he also made this shot at the Cleveland Browns: “That’s right, all the girls went to Cleveland and they played football in the Browns stadium. Afterwards, half the girls got roses from Peter and the rest got contracts from the Browns.”
Fallon took another shot at the Browns in January 2021 after the team made the playoffs with multiple punchlines:
- “The NFL regular season is over, and for the first time since 2002 the Cleveland Browns are going to the playoffs. Even Georgia's Secretary of State was like, ‘That can’t be right. Count the wins again.’”
- “When they heard that they had made the playoffs, the Browns were like, ‘There’s more games after the season? Do they do that every year? Wow.’”
- “Yeah, the Browns are going to the playoffs and fans are like, ‘Thanks, the one year we can’t be there in person. You’ve got to be kidding.’ Right now the people of Cleveland are thinking: Even when we win, we lose.”
