PASADENA, Calif. — For the second straight week, a Northeast Ohio performer on America's Got Talent fell just short of advancing to the final round of this season's competition.
After Summer Rios of Brunswick was eliminated last week, Canton's Zion Clark likewise was in the final five on Wednesday night's show, but did not have quite enough votes to move on to the AGT final.
Clark, who was once the top wrestler in Massillon, was born without legs and spent his childhood in more than a dozen foster homes. He has been the focus of a Netflix documentary and also been featured on Ellen and here on 3News in various interviews.
The 25-year-old Clark first wowed the AGT judges during his inspirational audition earlier this season.
On Tuesday night, Clark performed live and did not disappoint. He muscled his way through an American Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course. When he got to the top, Clark sat behind a set of drums and gave a masterful performance.
Here’s a sample of what each judge had to say following Clark's Tuesday performance:
- Heidi Klum: It was amazing. You are a force, a huge force of positivity and strength. I'm so happy to see you on our stage again. Inspiration is the word I think of when I think of you. I love your smile. America, you have to vote.
- Sofia Vergara: It's just remarkable to see all that you have taught yourself. It's amazing. I hope that for you, being on AGT can help you create more, have more hope, more passion for your life because you're amazing.
- Howie Mandel: Everyone in the world needs to watch you and to be inspired by you. If nothing else, just to show up. You are a treasure.
- Simon Cowell: I loved your first audition. When I watched it back, I loved it even more. I tell you what I think you've just done: I think you've just booked yourself a place in the final in two weeks. Because that was amazing. I have so much respect for you.
