LOS ANGELES β On Thursday, "The Kelly Clarkson Show" will feature two heartwarming stories from Northeast Ohio in honor of Veterans Day.
The McCandless family from Berea will be in for a special surprise from Colonel James McCandless, who has recently been away from home for more than a year during his deployment to Germany. You can watch a sneak peek of the surprise in the player above.
Kelly will also share the story of Private first-class Dashauna Priest, from Sandusky, and the pen pal she had in third grade, WWII veteran Frank Grasberger, from Strongsville.
"U.S. Army Private Deshauna wrote a letter in the third grade to WWII veteran Frank, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He replied to her letter with a feather from his "angels" to protect her," says a rep for "The Kelly Clarkson Show." Frank kept the letter close to his heart ever since and looked for his special pen pal for 12 years β and the two meet for the first time on the show today!
The episode will also feature guest appearances by Dr. Phil, "The Real" host Tamera Mowry, and a performance from Zac Brown Band.
Be sure to tune in Thursday morning at 11 a.m. on WKYC to see these heartwarming stories, as well as the stories of other veterans who served our country.
