CLEVELAND — As summer winds down you may be looking for fun and exciting things to do—inside. Look no further than, West Bank Golf Club where they're taking a swing at fun in the Flats.
The reaction center is co-owned by three former Baldwin Wallace football players: Gabe Adams, Jay Graham, and Jim Basar, who all have a passion for golf.
"It's kind of where the course meets the clubhouse," described Gabe. "We kind of got sick at driving out to simulators out in the suburbs and wanted to create a place that we'd all want to hang out at and, uh, create a cool kind of active environment on the west bank here," he said.
West Bank Golf Club is home to three bays that feature high-tech simulators, plus pool, a bar and seating areas for the casual fan.
"It's, it's really just a way to, you know, come and engage and use the technology to have some fun, explained Jim.
"We designed it in a way to make it friendly to avid golfers, to beginners, to families, to parties...just a place that wasn't all about golf," Jim added.
But if you are into golf, there are some things that will stand out, like Amen Corner or Church Pews, you can even try out the course your favorite professional golfer is playing.
"So if the professionals are at St. Andrews, you can come in and play St. Andrews and try your hand at it as well," explained Jim. Gabe added that, " it invites that competition element, which I think, uh, a lot of golfers and others enjoy too."
However, if you're no pro at hitting the green, you’re in luck, because the simulators at West Bank golf club are versatile. You can try your hand at football, dodgeball, and a host of other sports.
"We really, again, just tried to create an environment that's, uh, that's positive and it's golf related," said Jim. " But it's also not completely golf focused that you can come in and have some fun without having to be on the simulator the whole time."
And if you so happen to get lucky and score a hole in one, there’s a prize to celebrate your victory.
"We didn't want to give anyone that burden. So we provide the free drinks for the, uh, for the whole establishment, if a all in one goes in," explained Jim.
West bank golf club is open year-round and offers walk-ins and memberships. They also host corporate events and parties. And the prices are affordable.
"It's $45 an hour during the week. Um, and $55 an hour on the weekends, uh, which is Friday after three o'clock and that's for the hour. So not per person."
West Bank Golf Club is truly a place with something for everyone.
"It is a golf bar, but it's not only a golf bar," said Gabe.
West Bank Golf Club is located at 2111 Center St. For more information, click here.
