CLEVELAND — If you've never heard of the social media app "TikTok," you may just be living under a rock.
The app, which has a reported average of 100 million users in the U.S, has caused major controversy in the past several months, even prompting President Trump to attempt to ban it over its ties to China.
With an untapped market of Northeast Ohioans on the app, WKYC Studios launched its own Tiktok page at the beginning of the year. Just recently, however, the account has begun to produce the content that TikTok followers are looking for.
3News is currently working on several TikTok series with anchors and reporters, including a Voter Guide, a bucket list for fall in Cleveland, and ongoing lighthearted non-presidential debates.
The account, run by 3News digital reporter Hope Sloop along with members of our team, recently surpassed 1,200 followers and has topped more than 11,000 likes.
From local content to major projects like fact-checking the first presidential debate, 3News hopes to keep the people of Northeast Ohio informed on what's happening in their community, as well as the world, through an up and coming social media platform.
3News also recently added a TikTok aficionado to the team, Meteorologist Matt Standridge, who has more than 250,000 followers on the video app.
