It's hard to believe, but the start of the 2021-2022 academic school year is already here. And whether you are ready or not, it's time for students to head back to school.
While last year was upended due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year brings with it some of the same concerns. Many local school districts are still grappling with whether or not to bring students back in-person or continue virtual learning. While those districts that have decided to return to in-person learning are dealing with parents, students and teachers who are divided over mask mandates.
Many are even worried that some districts aren't prepared for traditional areas of school safety, such as mental health and violence.
Whether you're heading back in -person or sticking to virtual learning as the state and global health officials work to fight the ongoing pandemic; All of us here at WKYC want to see your back-to-school photos! Here’s how you can submit them:
You can submit photos and videos through 'Near Me' on the WKYC app, by texting a picture to (216) 344-3300 or posting a photo in the comments on this Facebook post.
To use our 'Near Me' feature on the WKYC app, watch digital anchor Stephanie Haney walk you through it in the video below, or read on for step-by-step instructions.
- All you have to do is open the app, tap on 'Near Me' in the bottom right corner, and tap on 'Share with us' when the map pops up.
- From there, you can select your photo or video right from your phone, write a short description so we know what we're looking at, and hit submit.
- When your submission has gone through, you'll see the word 'Success' pop up in the app, and you'll know it's been sent to us and is awaiting review by our team.
