Cedar Point limits Steel Vengeance availability for early morning riders

Cedar Point said this change is 'to increase reliability and uptime' as the coaster's manufacturer makes adjustments to the ride.

SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Cedar Point has revealed temporary changes to the operations involving its new Steel Vengeance roller coaster.

“To increase reliability and uptime, the ride manufacturer will be making some adjustments to the ride prior to park opening, which includes during Early Entry on select days,” park spokesperson Tony Clark posted on Cedar Point’s site. “On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through July 12, Steel Vengeance will be unavailable for Early Entry, but it will be scheduled to open at 10 a.m. During these days, Raptor will be open as a replacement attraction.”

Early Entry is available for Platinum Passholders or guests staying at Cedar Point resorts. These guests are given access to the park and select attractions one hour before the general public.

Steel Vengeance experienced a minor collision on opening day, resulting in the park’s decision to operate the roller coaster with just one train throughout May. Two trains began running earlier this month.

Steel Vengeance debuted to rave reviews from thrill seekers, many declaring it’s the best roller coaster on earth for its smooth-as-butter attitude and relentless air time.

The ride, which breaks a total of 10 world records, was designed to carry 1,200 riders per hour using three trains.
