SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Are you ready for a swim?

Cedar Point is just weeks away from splashing into summer with their renovated water park -- and now we’re getting a fresh look at what’s in store.

New animated footage of Cedar Point Shores has just been released, giving a closer glimpse of all the slippery upgrades.

Formerly known as Soak City, the expanded 18-acre Cedar Point Shores will make its debut on Saturday, May 27. Season pass holders can get their feet wet first with a Cedar Point Shores preview on Friday, May 26.

Here's a breakdown of the new water attractions:

Point Plummet: A six-story, four-person aqua drop body slide that simultaneously sends four guests on a nearly vertical free fall when the floor drops out from under their bare feet. The four separate 400-foot-long slides will send riders through a series of flat loops and s-curves.

Portside Plunge: Located on the same structure as Point Plummet, a pair of five-story tube slides can accommodate guests riding alone or with a friend, sending them through an enclosed tunnel before shooting them out into the sun through intense drops and turns.

Lakeslide Landing: A new family splashground with 12 kid-sized water slides that line the perimeter of a zero-depth entry pool, giving kids their own mini water thrills while parents can relax under shade structures and enjoy an oversized lounge and sun deck area.

Lemmy’s Lagoon: The mythical Lake Erie Monster, Lemmy, comes to life in this all-new family splashground. Located near Lakeslide Landing, Lemmy rises from the water featuring water curtains, geysers, water gadgets and a slide.

All previous existing Soak City slides have been renamed, including Dragster H20, which is now known as the Riptide Raceway.

The headlining restaurant at Cedar Point Shores will be Crystal Rock Cafe. Its menu includes fresh-baked flat breads, specialty salads, brisket and hand-made pizza.

But wait, there's more...

  • Muffleheads Beach Bar: A new swim-up poolside bar.
  • Schooner’s Beach Bar: Located next to the newly named Breakwater Bay wave pool, this bar will serve up signature cocktails and other drinks with live entertainment placed nearby.
  • Shandy Shores: A blood orange and mango cocktail concocted in partnership with The Brew Kettle in Strongsville.
  • A new main entrance.
  • New merchandise store.
  • New family changing / shower areas.
  • More lounge chairs.
  • More shade.
  • Improved landscaping.
  • Unobstructed views of Lake Erie.

Jason McClure, Cedar Point’s vice president and general manager, said Cedar Point Shores offers a nod to the park’s 147-year legacy.

“Our history started as a simple bathing beach back in 1870, when it was all about cooling off and enjoying time together along the shore of Lake Erie,” McClure said. “The transformation of Cedar Point Shores puts all the pieces together -- the connection to the lake, the mile-long Cedar Point Beach and thrilling water attractions.”

Cedar Point, meanwhile, opens for the 2017 season on Saturday, May 6. See what’s new inside the main park HERE.
