SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Cedar Point has a few more tricks up its sleeve...
Park spokesperson Tony Clark tells WKYC there are other surprises about the Steel Vengeance roller coaster that have yet to be revealed.
These secrets were kept hidden from reporters who were there Wednesday to get their first rides during media day.
►TIMELINE | From Mean Streak to Steel Vengeance
“There are some things we did not let loose today on purpose,” Clark says. “There are some parts of the ride that we could not dispatch today because of the nature of this event. We need people to have a good environment for reporting the story. We need it to be somewhat quiet.”
Hmmmmm… When we pressed harder, Clark gave a few more hints.
“The nature of today’s event prevented us from doing it full blast, but you will see. There’s no tunnel. There’s no flames. It’s nothing crazy like that, but it’s just a little something extra that kind of makes you go, ‘Wow! This is gonna be cool!’”

What could it be? We’re guessing it has something to do with Western-themed music for the roller coaster. Our crews noticed speakers on Steel Vengeance’s lift hill, but they were silent during the media preview. Plus, Clark’s comments indicate they needed to “be somewhat quiet” for reporters and they couldn’t go “full blast.”
Clark says these additional elements will be unveiled "soon."
Steel Vengeance, which breaks a total of 10 world records, takes the space once held by the rickety Mean Streak roller coaster. It features four inversions following a 90-degree first drop from 200 feet at speeds up to 74 mph.
Thrillseekers can climb aboard when Cedar Point opens for the season on Saturday, May 5, 2018.
