MASON, Ohio -- A freshly dug grave awaits one of Kings Island’s 16 roller coasters.
An unmarked tombstone looms over the coaster's burial site at the Cincinnati-area amusement park, which is hosting a mock funeral in its ride graveyard.
A nearby sign teases about the doomed attraction: “The air is eerily calm as we make final preparations for the ill-fated demise of one of our own.”
The tease comes with the following hashtags:
#RestInPiecesKI
#ItsBigItsGone
#RIP2018KI
So which ride is closing? Park officials will reveal more details later this week.
The coaster's final rides will take place on Kings Island’s closing night, which is Oct. 28, 2018.
Some coaster enthusiasts speculate the closure could involve the Vortex or Adventure Express. Others dare to say it could be the iconic Beast -- but we wouldn't bet on that.
