WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — It was a birthday party, a century in the making.
Shirley Gibson of Willougbhy turned 100 years old on Thursday and celebrated in style. She was born in Cleveland, on June 11, 1920.
The Visiting Angles of Northeast Ohio wanted to be sure her special birthday was not forgotten.
According to a press release, they have been helping her live independently at the Ohio Living Breckenridge Campus in Willoughby for the last six years.
To celebrate, a parade led by Willoughby Police and Fire, along with Lake County officials, Willoughby Mayor Andrew Gardener and her "Angel" caregivers rode past Shirley’s home to wish her a Happy Birthday.
To honor her, she received special proclamations, many birthday cards and flowers.
Happy Birthday, Shirley!
