SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — When you think of America's favorite pastime, most often, baseball comes to mind. But in communities across the nation, roller skating has rolled into the hearts of generations.
But, it's not the easiest skill to pick up and sometimes a little help is needed.
3News' Kierra Cotton visited Showtime's Skate Studio on Sunday for some one-on-one help with the craft.
The studio is owned and operated by Eric "Showtime" Tate Jr. He's been skating for more than a decade. However, it wasn't until the pandemic that he decided to branch out and offer lessons outside of the traditional skating rink.
According to Tate Jr., the skating rink can be intimidating for new skaters and with his lessons, he can control the environment and cater to the specific needs of the individual. His classes are available to anyone at any skill level from beginners to advanced skaters.
Tate Jr. offers classes every Tuesday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and every Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sessions begin at $30, and a monthly plan is available. For more information or to sign up, you can call Eric "Showtime" Tate Jr. at 216-507-1680 or email him at showtimeskatestudio@gmail.com.
Showtime's Skate Studio is located at 4151 Mayfield Road in South Euclid.
