PORTAGE LAKES, Ohio -- With temperatures well into the 60s Saturday, it was a beautiful day for a swim.
Right?
780 people traded their winter coats for bathing suits and flip-flops at the 13th Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump.
For those skipping the traditional beachwear, some adorned their bodies in goofy costumes, from Dr. Seuss characters to Power Rangers.
The goose-pimpled participants, who helped raise more than $102,000 for charity by plunging into the ice-cold waters, ranged in age from 7-76.
At 64 degrees, it was the warmest Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump ever since the splashing started back in 2004.
But the water wasn't so kind. With a thin sheet of ice glazed across the surface at Portage Lakes State Park, the water temperature hovered around 35 degrees.WKYC app users can see two different photo galleries that showcase all the goofy costumes HERE and HERE.We streamed nearly a full hour of live video from the event on our Facebook page, where thousands of people from across the country watched the wackiness all unfold.
