CLEVELAND — African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton is set to open for its 56th season on Friday.
While the park's Walk-Thru Safari attraction will not resume until May, the Drive-Thru Safaris will be open daily.
“Early spring is a great time to visit the Park because most of our animals are totally unbothered by the chilly-to-mild weather,” park director Kelsey Keller said. “You may even be lucky enough to witness the birth of an Alpaca or Bison!”
The park is offering a major discount on tickets to mark the upcoming opening day. From now until March 31, tickets can be purchased online for 16.95, a nearly 50% decrease from the usual $32.95 gate price. The deal is not available at the gate.
African Safari's Drive-Thru Safari will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last car let in at 4 p.m. The drive-thru features zebras, bison, alpacas, elk, exotic cattle, emus and more, according to the park. Warm-weather animals like giraffes may not be visible if the air temperature is below 60 degrees.
The Walk-Through Safaris, opening in "mid-May" according to park officials, features gibbons, lemurs, kangaroos, warthogs, educational shows and animal feeding.
African Safari Wildlife Park was recently nominated as one of the best safari parks in the U.S. by USA TODAY's 10Best.
