CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Animal Protective League is in the midst of its first capital campaign to expand its Tremont facility.
The expansion and renovation project will expand the shelter into an animal resource center for animals and people in the community.
The shelter held a ceremonial groundbreaking Wednesday morning to provide more details on plans for the project.
The renovation will expand and enhance clinic spaces where more advanced medical care will be offered to care for homeless animals and provide more care to pets of income qualified pet owners.
The project will also allow the APL to reduce stress and make the shelter experience for animals better with additions of an indoor dog play yard, "catios" for cats and improved housing and holding spaces.
The APL has raised 75% of its $13.5 million goal to complete the renovation.
