HUDSON, Ohio — City leaders in Hudson have issued a warning after a resident's pet was apparently attacked by a coyote early Wednesday morning.
Officials say the incident occurred along Ravenna Street near Stow Road. They did not share the extent of the pet's injuries or what happened to the coyote following the attack.
According to City Hall, this is currently coyote mating season, and there have been "increased sightings" of the wild animals in recent days and weeks. This can create a danger not just for house pets, but for people, as well.
Hudson has its own coyote management plan meant to protect its citizens. Common tips include:
- Never leaving your pets outside unattended
- Being aware of things that can attract coyotes such as animal feeders, grills, leaves, trash, or water
- Keeping an eye out for coyotes continuously returning to certain spots or exhibiting "aggressive" behavior such as growling or approaching pets or humans
- Reporting any intentional feeding of coyotes by residents
Anyone in Hudson with concerns about coyotes or other dangerous wild animals is asked to immediately call Summit County Animal Control at (330) 643-2845 or visit the department's website.
