MENTOR, Ohio — Lake County Humane Society has been presented with a matching gift opportunity of up to $5,000 from now until December 31, 2022.  The humane society is asking the public to help with donations, that will be matched, this final week of the year.

Donations help pets like Monty.  Two weeks ago, Monty was found abandoned and locked inside a vacant house. The condition of the house was unlivable. Monty had no access to water and his only source of food came from a ripped open bag of dog food lying on the ground.  Monty was frightened, hungry and alone.

Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Department rescued Monty and took him to Lake County Humane Society.  Monty was treated for a respiratory infection and dehydration. He is described as a sweet boy, smiley and bashful. He is healthy now and ready to find a home of his own!

Every week, pets make their way to Lake Humane by either being abandoned, abused, surrendered or neglected.  Lake County Humane relies on donor support so they can provide the pets a safe haven complete with medical care, food and compassion.

As 2022 comes to an end, Lake County Humane is asking for donations to help save pets in need, like Monty.  Now through Saturday, December 31, monetary donations with be matched dollar for dollar.
