RICHFIELD, Ohio — Officials at Summit Metro Parks have revealed a unique and exciting discovery at one of it properties.
The parks' Facebook page shared a trail camera photo of a bobcat lurking around Furnace Run Metro Park in Richfield. Experts say this is the first photographic proof that bobcats live in the nature preserve.
The sighting is rare because, according to SMP Chief of Conservation Mike Johnson, bobcats "generally do not even allow themselves to be seen!" However, the confirmation of the animals indeed living in the park "is a good sign of a healthy system.
Park leaders say bobcats are harmless to humans but can be heard and identified by their "tremendous, horrifying screech."
