CLEVELAND — Today is “Galentine's Day” a celebration made famous by the show “Parks and Recreation." It falls the day before Valentine’s Day.
Our female friendships are vital to our mental health and overall well-being. On today's Mom Squad, Maureen Kyle talks with Shari Leid, a friendship expert and mindset coach and founder of An Imperfectly Perfect Life, about why carving out time for your close friends is just as important as a romantic relationship.
“We're all experiencing the same thing when it comes down to it. We all have loss, we all have pain, we all have personal struggles,” says Leid.
“And when we share this, people respond. And you know it's not like dumping your drama out there but being real. Being unique, being able to be transparent really helps to deepen a friendship because someone says, 'Hey, I recognize that because that deep experience is something that has also happened to me,'" Leid said.
In this episode, Leid talks about how to deepen those friendships, especially new ones. And when to know when it's time to create distance in a friendship.
