It’s Friday! So, let’s have fun and let out a little steam this weekend. Check out the jumping challenge Maureen Kyle tried with her kids.

CLEVELAND — When there’s a break in the rain and the sun comes out, my kids throw on their shoes faster than you can say “Go!”

But riding bikes or scooters tends to get redundant. So, after a quick Pinterest search, I found this easy Hopscotch game that looks like it mixes in a little bit of Twister. The video I found shows kids trying this indoors with paper taped to the floor, but we got outside and used chalk.

The beauty of this game is that you can make it more complicated for older kids, or simple for the little ones (like mine).

I drew 3 squares in a row. Inside two of those squares I outlined my feet, and in one square I outlined my hand. Then, I kept drawing the three-box grid up the driveway. I mixed up where the feet and hands would be, just like a game of Twister. Since my girls are little, I always kept two feet in the code. But if your kids are older, it’s fun to have one hand and two feet in the three-box row.

Just jumping like Hopscotch was fun for them, but we also timed how fast they could do it and how accurate they could be without falling down.

No matter what, we worked with what we have and I think we’ve found a new favorite driveway activity.
