Reducing unnecessary stress and how social media plays a role: Mom Squad with 3News' Maureen Kyle

Juggling work, family and other responsibilities can be stressful. But then we tend to add other "stressors" to our lives. A look at how to control the "to do" list.

CLEVELAND — Between work, kids, cleaning, organizing and more, the "to-do list" piles up and so do our stress levels. But how much of the stress are we adding onto ourselves?

In today's Mom Squad, 3News' Maureen Kyle talk to Dr. Susan Albers from the Cleveland Clinic about identifying the unnecessary stress in our lives and how social media plays a big role.

“So, when you are scrolling through your feed, notice and be mindful of how do the posts impact you. How do they make you feel?” Albers says. “There are going to be certain posts that inspire you and say, ‘I want to make this for dinner. I want to look like this. I want to do all of these things.’ And they give you some education on how to do them. And then there are other posts while you are scrolling that give you that gut feeling of 'ugh.' Those are the ones that we need to scroll past or unfollow.”

But if you feel like those posts inspire you or motivate you to be a better version of yourself, that can be a good thing.

“Be the best version of you. Not the version of them. But the version of you,” says Albers.

In the podcast, Mom Squad Pod, Kyle and Albers discuss the other stressors that contribute to your day. For example, cleaning and organizing. Those are sometimes the first chores that get pushed aside on a busy day, but Albers says the clutter contributes to the chaos in your mind.

Joining Kyle on the podcast is 3News' Hollie Strano. They share how they find ways to cope with stress in their daily lives.
