Friday is National Taco Day, meaning it's the perfect opportunity to find your new favorite taco spot.
Northeast Ohioans likely think of the always popular Barrio when it comes to local tacos. The chain has six Northeast Ohio locations with more on the way, meaning its build-your-own tacos and Day of the Dead concept will continue its reign across Cleveland.
But if you're hoping to try something different and a little more authentic, consider these three options.
Blue Habanero
Blue Habanero opened in Cleveland's Gordon Square neighborhood just under a year ago. The menu features a range of street tacos for every palate, but the al pastor is among the most flavorful. Taco trios come with a choice of side, and don't forget to head there during happy hour for $5 margaritas and queso.

La Plaza
La Plaza tacos are simple, authentic and so affordable that you'll want to fill a take-home box. The al pastor is spicy and the asada is full of flavor. Toppings are up to you, ranging from the traditional onions and cilantro to salsas of varying spice levels.
Where: 13609 Lakewood Heights Blvd., Lakewood
Tapatias Taqueria
Similar to La Plaza's setup, Tapatias Taqueria also offers authentic street tacos with a choose-your-own toppings and salsa bar. The carnitas boast the perfect ratio of salt and fat, while the lengua and tripa are tender choices for the more daring.
