ROCKY RIVER -- Summer is finally here and not many people want to spend their hot days and nights in the kitchen cooking.
So, why not let somebody else do the work? The average American eats out between four and five times per week.
We all know about the great restaurants in Tremont or Ohio City, but don’t sleep on Rocky River. This suburb of Cleveland is home to many establishments that will satisfy your hunger.
WKYC digital producer Brian Crane has lived in Rocky River for 12 years and considers himself an average American in regards to his dining out habits.
Check out his list of top five Rocky River restaurants that will definitely appeal to that growling stomach.
5. Sweet Melissa
Sweet Melissa is a place that never disappoints. I consider it gourmet food at a reasonable price. The food and service is always outstanding. Their menu is extensive from wraps to sandwiches to ribs and steak. They also offer patio seating which is always nice for the summer nights. My go-to meal is Megan’s chicken wrap.

4. Rustic Restaurant
Rustic Restaurant is a small place that has been packing a big punch since 1947. This family-owned establishment is great for a long sit-down meal or just stopping in for a quick bite. The menu consists of sandwiches, burgers and homemade family favorites. My go-to meal is the gourmet burger with fries.

3. Salmon Dave's Pacific Grille
If its date night and you want seafood, Salmon Dave’s is the place to go. It’s pricey but definitely worth it. Tucked away in “old Rocky River”, the location and atmosphere makes the dining experience that much more enjoyable. My go-to meal is the surf and turf.

2. The Woods
Just like Rustic Restaurant, The Woods is a Rocky River staple. As the name suggests, it has a woodsy-like atmosphere that gives it a New England cottage feel. This Italian restaurant is a must for anyone craving spaghetti or homemade lasagna, but my go-to meal is the pizza.

1. Rocky River Brewing Company
To be honest, this was a no-brainer for me. Over the last 10 years, they have been nationally recognized for their handcrafted beers and numerous Silver Spoon awards for its food. This pub offers a casual and family-friendly dining experience for lunch or dinner. My go-to meal is the French Dip with a Pumpkin beer. And if you disagree with my top pick, let me know. But if you're out and about in Rocky River, just drive on Center Ridge Road and take a look in their parking lot. This place is guaranteed to be packed because for my taste, they offer the best meal in the city.
