CLEVELAND — Editor's note: Video from the top of this story was published before the official launch of the Harvest for Hunger campaign.
More than 25 million meals are in the plans this year from Northeast Ohio food banks as they launch the 30th annual Harvest for Hunger fundraising campaign.
“When you donate $1 to Harvest for Hunger, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank can help provide enough food for four nutritious meals,” officials said. “The Food Bank is serving more people than ever before. Many new families who have never used a food bank before are turning to us for the first time – the Food Bank is serving twice as many new families compared to the same time last year.”
That need has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
You can donate to the Harvest for Hunger campaign through the Greater Cleveland Food Bank HERE. Donations can also be made while you check out at the following stores throughout the area: Giant Eagle, Get Go, Heinen’s, Dave’s Markets, Lucy’s Market, Fishers Foods and Buehler’s Fresh Foods.
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank hosted a virtual event Wednesday morning to officially kick off the Harvest for Hunger campaign. 3News’ Matt Standridge was among the special guests who participated in a pre-recorded Celebrity Supermarket Challenge. This year’s winners – for the second year in a row – were Jeremiah and Morgan from the Q104 morning team. Watch the battle below:
