CLEVELAND — Lefty's Famous Cheesesteaks Hoagies and Grill is planning to bring a location to Northeast Ohio ahead of the upcoming football season.
Founder Sam Berry told 3News that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is also an investor in the company.
"We can't wait to serve, patronize and take care of all the customers of the city. We hope to be there for a very, very long time," said Berry.
At this time, a location has not yet been determined for Lefty's, but they are looking at "all parts of Cleveland." The goal is for the first location to be up and running by the start of the Cleveland Browns season.
"Deshaun gives back to the community, has a foundation and is a superstar quarterback in the NFL. We want to bring our great brand and his great brand to the great city of Cleveland," said Berry.
Their menu includes cheesesteaks, hoagies, loaded fries, burgers, corned beef, wings and many other items.
Lefty's originated in Michigan and currently has more than 25 locations in the state. The food chain has since expanded with locations in Florida, California and Toledo.
"What is great about Michiganders and Ohio residents is that they eat similarly. They have a similar palette and taste buds. We love football and have an appetite for food. It was a no-brainer to expand to Ohio and further," said Berry.
Berry created Lefty's after feeling restricted while working on someone else's vision.
"In 2012 Sam took matters into his own hands and created Lefty’s Cheesesteak. A place where he could innovate, problem-solve, and express himself the only way he knew how. Like a lefty," according to the Lefty's website.
