CLEVELAND — After a successful first year, Mount Granita Italian Ice in Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood is returning.
On May 1, the shop's opening day, Mount Granita will offer junior scoops of Italian ice for just $1.
Mount Granita opened last summer after previously serving Italian ice from a small sidewalk cart in Little Italy. Now, for the second summer, customers will be welcomed by bubbles and a vibrant atmosphere at the storefront at 2024 Murray Hill Road.
"We never really thought that we would be here coming from just a small sidewalk cart. But we're here," co-owner Chris Giancola told 3News last spring.
Their flavors, which are made from scratch with fresh ingredients, include the following:
- Lemon
- Strawberry
- Mango
- Coconut
- Mint Mojito
- Orange Creamsicle
- Amarena Cherry
- Piña Colada
- Mixed Berry
- Grapefruit
- Cantaloupe (Seasonal)
- Watermelon (Seasonal)
- Peaches & Cream (Seasonal)
- Spiced Apple Cider (Seasonal)
"It's all made with fresh fruit, organic cane sugar and water. So it's vegan, it's gluten-free and it's dairy-free," Giancola previously told 3News.
"I wouldn't want to be in any other neighborhood. We’ll stop in any restaurant or shop or café and people are always willing to give tips. People are always lending a hand of support. I really couldn't ask for better neighbors and our business community to start a business in," Giancola said.
