SOLON, Ohio — Officials called it "the largest natural foods grocery store east of the Mississippi," but it is about to be no more.

The CEO of Mustard Seed Market & Cafe has announced the company's Solon location will close on Oct. 30. Gabe Nabors wrote that the store "did not develop as we had hoped" and was experiencing "increased competition both in brick and mortar stores as well as online."

"My family wishes to give a sincere thank you to our Solon staff, the Solon community and to the thousands of customers that helped us these past 20 years to push health foods to the mainstream," Nabors continued.

The locally-owned Mustard Seed specializes in natural and organic food and also helps educate others on those products as well as the environment. The company was established in 1981, and Nabors says its two other stores in Akron's Highland Square and Montrose will remain open as they "remain strong and continue to grow and thrive."

Up until it closes for good in a little under two weeks, the Solon store will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. every day as it attempts to clear its inventory.
