BROOKLYN, Ohio — Get ready, Brooklyn! A new Swensons restaurant officially opened along Brookpark Road on Monday, Jan. 31.
The new location’s hours are listed as follows:
- Sunday – Thursday: 11 a.m. until midnight
- Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. until 1:30 a.m.
It marks the Akron-based burger chain's 18th drive-in restaurant and sixth in the Cleveland area.
The first customers at the new location were Denise Dalton and Charlene Kordan of Brooklyn.
"The duo were part of the first wave of customers that lined up an hour before opening," Swensons officials tell 3News.
Prior to opening to the general public, the new location also hosted three days of community events -- including fundraisers for Ridge-Brook Elementary School and Brooklyn High School.
Best known for its Galley Boy -- a double cheeseburger smothered in two homemade sauces and topped with a green olive -- Swensons has been ranked among the best burger spots in America.
It's even a favorite of Akron native LeBron James.
"I get a double cheeseburger, and onion rings," James previously revealed during an interview at the I PROMISE School in Akron. "And then I get a banana milkshake with real ice cream. I have a nice little feast."
But did you know Swensons also has a secret menu? We have details of the special food options HERE.
"The Swensons’ journey began in 1934 when Wesley T. 'Pop' Swenson started selling fresh-ground burgers to his Akron neighbors out of the back of his family station wagon," the company said. "The operation soon moved to a single hamburger stand, where it embraced the classic American drive-in model. 87 years later, the Swensons experience remains largely unchanged."
Swensons first revealed their plans to build the location in Brooklyn back in September. The restaurant’s address is 7414 Brookpark Road.
