CLEVELAND — In our latest installment of “Home with Hollie,” our own Hollie Strano headed to the North Collinwood kitchen of Monica Potter to do a little baking.
The actress, entrepreneur and WKYC Special Contributor splits her time between Los Angeles and her hometown of Cleveland, where she purchased and renovated her childhood home several years ago.
Hollie and Monica bonded over the fact that they are both moms to teenage daughters, and Monica shared some memories of her late father's love of cooking.
Monica also revealed that like her father, she enjoys cooking more than baking (which is her mom Nancy's specialty), so perhaps it's no surprise that when it came time to do the baking, a few technical difficulties got in the way...
First, they forgot to plug in the hand mixer, and then -- an unintentionally hardened scoop of brown sugar derailed their plans for the homemade treat!
But that shouldn't stop you from trying Nancy's famous chocolate chip cookies for yourself. Check out the recipe below and let us know how yours turn out!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp water
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chocolate chips
