CLEVELAND — Northeast Ohio has slowly become one of America's premiere spots for craft breweries, so much so that one beer maker from across the pond is now taking notice.
BrewDog, headquartered in Ellon, Scotland, announced Wednesday it will be opening up a brewery in the Flats some time later this year. The pub will be located in the Avian building on Cleveland's Carter Road, right along the banks of the Cuyahoga River.
"BrewDog is excited to join the fast-developing beer scene in Cleveland," the company said in a statement. "BrewDog has been looking to plant a flag in Cleveland for over four years, and can’t wait to be a part of the incredible city."
Founded in 2007 by James Watt and Martin Dickie, BrewDog has made headlines for its provocative advertising and strong beers, some of which have set records for alcohol by volume. The chain currently boasts dozens of European and American taps, along with classic bar foods.
BrewDog currently boasts three pubs in the Columbus area along with one near Cincinnati. This will be its first location in Northeast Ohio, and you can view artist renderings of the setup below:
