Cleveland Ice Cream Guide: Who serves the best scoop? 3News viewers share their favorite stands and flavors

Brayson’s, King Cone, Mitchell’s Fine Chocolates and Piccadilly Artisan Creamery are among the recommendations

CLEVELAND — We Clevelanders love our ice cream (and custard, gelato and sorbet).

The “Cleveland Ice Cream Guide: 15 Spots to Sweeten the Last Days of Summer” story posted Tuesday generated a lot of feedback from 3News viewers who wanted to share their favorite locations for a summer treat.

Several agreed that East Coast Custard was a winner. “East Coast Original Frozen Custard!! Mint chocolate chip every Thursday!” cheered John Riter.

Others praised Mitchell’s and Rosso Gelato and Mason’s Creamery, which were all in our guide. Several people added locations to the list, too.

Jeremy Orges said Brayson’s (5840 Ridge Road, Parma) has the “best ice cream in the area” on Facebook page. Jhenny Rowe voted for Foster’s Home Made Ice Cream (30551 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills).

Other cheers came in for Handel’s (area locations) and Dolce in Wadsworth.

On Twitter, John Dretzel shared a sweet memory and recommendation. “King Kone in Chardon will always hold a special place in my heart. Not because they are special but because it was home of the ‘Big 10’ and ‘Little 20’ that my dad always took us to back in the ‘70s,” he wrote.

And “g in cle” had a very interesting recommendation, suggesting Mitchell’s Fine Chocolates, 2285 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights: “It’s not an official ice cream spot, and they have more sorbet than ice cream, but (Mitchells) on Lee road has hands down the best buckeye ice cream in Cleveland.

One viewer, Dominic Verdell, even shared a bracket competition his family embarked upon.  The winner? Piccadilly Artisan Creamery (11607 Euclid Avenue), which beat out west side favorite Sweet Moses (6800 Detroit Avenue).
