CHESHIRE, Conn. — Stark County burger connoisseurs will soon have a new place to get their fix.

Wayback Burgers, "one of the nation’s fastest-growing burger franchises," announced Thursday they will be opening a new location at Canton's Belden Village this July. It will be the fifth Ohio spot for the Connecticut-based chain, and the fourth in the Cleveland-Akron-Canton area.

Wayback President Patrick Conlin released the following statement:

"We are thrilled to continue the expansion of Wayback Burgers in Ohio with the lease signing of our Canton restaurant. With every franchisee who joins the Wayback Burgers family, we hope they continue to flourish within our organization by opening additional locations. Pat Patel and his family have been excellent partners and we consider it quite an accomplishment for them to be opening their third location."

Founded in 1991 as Jake's Hamburgers, Wayback is best known for its "Cheeeesy" burger, which features four two patties and four cheese slices between inverted grilled and buttered buns. Other menu favorites include cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches, and hand-dipped milkshakes.

The restaurant at 4472 Belden Village St. NW—formerly home of the recently closed Smoke the Burger Joint—will be 2,500 square feet in size and include a "modernized kitchen" that will allow customers to see their burgers as they're made. Local franchisee Pat Patel will serve as direct head of operations, saying:

"My family and I are excited to be bringing the Wayback Burgers experience to the Canton, OH community. After positive community response following the openings of our locations in Broadview Heights and Wadsworth, we knew a third restaurant was something we wanted to pursue. Since opening our first location, Wayback Burgers has been incredibly supportive in guiding us throughout the franchising process. We hope with the brand’s continued support, our Canton location opening will be a success."

Wayback first came to the Buckeye State in 2011 with the aforementioned Wadsworth location. Another restaurant is slated to open in Macedonia soon.
