What's happening in Northeast Ohio this weekend: Nov. 8-10

Nobel Prize winning performer Bob Dylan and his band perform in Akron, and Cleveland Restaurant Week continues.

CLEVELAND — Northeast Ohio is full of interesting places to go and things to do if you know where to look. That's why we're here to help keep you up to date on all of the great things happening in our area. 

This weekend, we've got a big name in town with Nobel Prize winner Bob Dylan performing at the University of Akron. 

If local artists are more your thing, you can stop by Walkabout Tremont, and for the foodies on a budget, Cleveland Restaurant Week is in full swing.

Cleveland Restaurant Week

What: Cleveland Independents, a group of local owned and operated restaurants, has organized more than 50 restaurants in the greater Cleveland area to take part in restaurant week. What that means for you is that for $33 per person, you can get a three-course dinner at the city’s finest establishments. A few top options include Pier W in Lakewood, Alley Cat Oyster Bar in the Flats East Bank and Fahrenheit in Tremont.

When: Now through November 16

Walkabout Tremont

What: Light up your holidays with live music, local artists, fall-themed food and drink specials, extended hours at art galleries and shops and other special festivities all throughout the neighborhood of Tremont.

Where: You can start out at 2406 Professor Avenue in Tremont, where Refold is located.

When: Friday (and December 13) from 5-10 P.M.

Bob Dylan and his Band in Akron

What: Bob Dylan will perform this weekend in Akron, with a very strict no photography and no audio/video recording policy. This includes the use of cell phones and/or tablets for the purpose of photographing or recording the event. Please note all cell phones must be turned off, or silenced, and put away prior to entering the seating area, and can be used in the lobby only. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster starting at $47 and on resale sites.

Where: EJ Thomas Hall on the University of Akron campus at 198 Hill Street

When: Saturday at 8 P.M.

Santa's holiday parade

What: Santa Claus and all of his holiday friends are making their first apperance at Great Northern Mall in a parade starting in the Sears wing and traveling throughout the mall, ending at Santa's sleigh in Center Court. The US Marine Corps are the Grand Marshal for the parade. You can also get your photo taken with Santa after the parade.  The first 50 families to visit Santa will receive an extra thank you for being early, in addition to the usual giveaways, photos and more.

When: Friday from 7-9 P.M.

AARP Veterans and Caregiving event 

What: The AARP and the Northeast Ohio Veterans Affairs office are joining forces to host a resource fair with presentation on what to think about when preparing to become a caregiver for a loved one, the caregiving resources the VA offers, and a local veteran sharing insights on how to access health care resources for veterans and navigate them through the various local health care systems. The VA will have their benefits enrollment team on site, and will be prepared to work with each veteran to determine if they can access additional resources for their care. The whole event culminates with a recognition ceremony for Vietnam Era veterans, who are presented with a pin honoring their service, and a presidential citation. Holiday craft and vendor show

What: More than 80 vendors, plus concessions, raffles and other prizes will kick off the holiday season for crafters in Stark County.

Where: Charles L. Warstler elementary school at 2500 Schneider Street NE in Canton

When: Saturday from 9 A.M. - 2 P.M.

Owls & Howls family fun day

What: Visit the Cleveland Museum of Art to learn about the serious business of animal enrichment with hands-on activities and see animal ambassadors at work and play. Enjoy games, crafts, and special demonstrations, with live animal demonstrations every hour starting at 10:30 A.M. through to 2:30 P.M. in the outdoor space at the Ralph Perkins II Wildlife Center & Woods Garden. This event is presented by KeyBank, is free for museum members and included in the cost of general admission for non-members.

When: Saturday from 10 A.m. - 5 P.M.

Christkindl Markt

What: The 48th Annual Christkindl Markt fine arts and fine crafts show, presented by Canton Fine Arts Associates, Inc., will have several new additions for 2019, highligting artists from across the US. Delight in the highest quality creations in ceramics, textiles, wearable art, glass, painting, woodworks, and more. The event welcomes more than 25 new artisans this year with works never-before seen at Christkindl, along with live music, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and  the NEW Santa's Spirit Haus, serving craft beer, wine and signature cocktails. Parking is free and tickets are $8 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Canton Museum of Art.

When: Friday and Saturday from 10 A.M. - 6 P.M. and Sunday from 11 A.M. - 4 P.M.
