Fire departments pay homage to healthcare workers at University Hospitals in Parma

Local departments servicing UH Parma Medical Center uniquely saluted the hospital employees, from one group of heroes to another.

PARMA, Ohio — Being a fan of something typically brings people together in ways that, unfortunately, we just can’t do right now. But while we aren’t gathering to celebrate our favorite sports teams, movies or events, a new fandom has been created in their place.

Last night, fire departments that work with University Hospitals Parma Medical Center gathered together to cheer on healthcare works on the front lines battling COVID-19 in a unique way.

“We all got together and show(ed) a little appreciation to the hospital for all the things they have done for us,” said Parma Fire Department Fire Chief Mike Lasky. “Not only keeping us safe when we are out in the fields working, but keeping our families safe as well.”

Over a dozen fire trucks, ambulances and station vehicles paid homage to hospital employees by displaying lights and sirens outside of UH’s Parma location.

“When we say they are the front lines, they are on the front lines from day one all the way through the virus and all the way to take us to the end. Thank them for all the things they are doing for us," Lasky added.
