CLEVELAND — “Toyland, Toyland. Little girl and boy land.”
It’s a song about the magic of Santa or anyone, and you will see magic in their eyes.
Maybe you remember?
Yesterday or yester-year, a Christmas Toyland is the same.
But for many children, the Christmas season can be toy-less. These are kids who dream if only Santa could come.
Well, the old fellow is busy this year, and the Cleveland Police Officers and Cleveland Police Foundation are helping.
“They give out presents to families that are struggling or have issues,” says Retired Cleveland Police Captain Keith Sulzer.
The Cleveland Police Foundation and Skylight Financial Group are working together for the children. And while Santa continues his work at the North Pole workshop, at Cleveland’s West 25th Street and Lorain Road, Saturday, December 5th, officers will be buys with their own Christmas gift truck.
It’s where the public can donate new toys, sports items, or money for toy purchases. The idea is to “Stuff the Truck.”
“We are just going to ask people to bring presents, we will take them right out of their cars, and just load the truck up,” Sulzer said.
The hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The toys should be valued at $20 or more. They should also be unwrapped. Don’t have time to shop? They will be taking monetary donations as well.
Families in need will be identified by Cleveland schools, city council members, the Special Wish Foundation, Providence House, and Laura’s Home.
WKYC is a proud media sponsor of this event.
