CLEVELAND — Thursday, Oct.1, begins the official kick-off for the Toys for Tots holiday campaign.
United States Marines and volunteers will conduct 810 local toy collection and distribution events across the country. Historically, over 35,000 volunteers, millions of supporters, and hundreds of corporations participate in the annual toy drive.
Marines and their civilian partners collect new unwrapped toys which they distribute to children who may not otherwise have gifts for Christmas. The military says there are an estimated 15 million children living in poverty in our country.
The Toys for Tots mission is to bring joy to less fortunate kids during the holiday season, as well as inspiring children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. To find a local Toys for Tots campaign near you visit toysfortots.org.
