CLEVELAND — If you're looking to mix a bit of history into your Halloween celebrations, head down under --literally -- to the USS Cod Submarine Memorial.
There, you can participate in its annual Halloween on a Submarine night tours, starting this Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21, from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
This is a family-oriented event that offers true stories of the WWII Navy submarine's "weird" history, as well as close encounters with the Lake Erie Monster and Erie Mary, the Lake witch, a news release said. It is not recommended for toddlers.
The tour is about an hour long, and begins at 7 p.m. However, organizers suggest an 8 p.m. arrival to avoid the rush. Tickets are $15 per person at the gate, rain or shine. There is also free parking on site.
USS Cod is docked at 1201 N. Marginal Rd.. between East 9th Street and Burke Lakefront Airport. Proceeds benefit the restoration and maintenance of this National Historic Landmark ship and veteran of seven WWII patrols in the Pacific Ocean.
