PARMA, Ohio — The Haunted Yard in Parma, which has become a Halloween favorite here in Northeast Ohio, will not be opening for the 2024 season.
But why is it closed this year?
"As we’ve all gotten older, gotten married or engaged, and started families of our own, we have had to sacrifice time away from our family, friends and our jobs to create the Haunted Yard in Parma every year," according to a statement on their Facebook page. "This year, we have decided to put our families, friends and jobs first."
Last year, 3News' Mike Polk Jr. visited The Haunted Yard on Rousseau Drive while on his search to find the best Halloween displays -- and he even awarded them with the "WKYC Excellence in Halloween Decor Award."
Here is the full statement from The Haunted Yard about their decision to close in 2024:
Dear Ghouls and Goblins:
We regret to inform you that the Haunted Yard in Parma will not be opening this Halloween season.
Creating the Haunted Yard in Parma takes roughly 6 months of preparation, which doesn’t leave much time for our crew to actually enjoy the Halloween season.
As we’ve all gotten older, gotten married or engaged, and started families of our own, we have had to sacrifice time away from our family, friends and our jobs to create the Haunted Yard in Parma every year. This year, we have decided to put our families, friends and jobs first.
We are excited to enjoy some much needed rest and free time to enjoy the wonders of the season…Haunted Houses, hayrides, costume parties, and most importantly, stress-free time hanging out with each other. We already were able to experience and enjoy Universal Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando Florida.
Thanks for all of your love, support and generosity over the years. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.
Enjoy some of the other fantastic local haunts and Halloween displays around our area!
Scarily Yours,
The Cast and Crew of the Haunted Yard in Parma
